7-yr medical program?

I recently received a letter from Northwestern about their 7-yr medical program. If you are selected (and I think only about 50 students are), you don't have to take the MCAT, and you would be directly accepted into their medical school.

Are there any other schools offering this program? And if there are, which school is the best?

Boston University -- also has a tie-in with MassGeneral. Know of someone who chose this program over Stanford.

More information about multiple degree programs can be found here.

It's insanely difficult to get in, though, and they have very high SAT cutouts for consideration (i.e. if you don't have like a 1510 they won't even look at the rest of your app).

UCSD has this program.
USC has a program with guaranteed acceptance into keck upon completion of an undergraduate degree with fullfillment of the premed reqs along with a 3.3 gpa requirement and 9's on each section of the mcat.

George Washington has a 7 year program

what is the quality of UCSD's 7 yr?

Rice/ Baylor
Brown
Case Western
Northwestern
BU

Are the top 7-8yr programs off the top of my head.

stambliark41: Although I don't have more information specifically about the advanced degree program offered by UCSD, I do know that UCSD has one of the best medical schools in the country; its medical school ranks third within the UC system, after UCSF and UCLA.

RPI has a 7 year research physican program in conjuction with Albany Medical College.

UCSD you need an over 1500 SAT, over 4.0 gpa and leadership extra curriculars as well

both UCSD and USC are 8 yr programs. USC has about 30 spots, UCSD has only 12. You also have to take the MCATs at USC. For UCSD, if you meet the requirements, you're invited to apply. Also, UCSD is open to only CA residents.

how competitive is it for those 12 spots? anyone have mean sat, anything to judge it by?

stambliark41: I believe the requirements to gain an interview for the UCSD program are: 1500 SAT and 4.0 GPA. It's highly possible that the mean SATs of those accepted to the program are higher than the requirement. On a side note, I'm not sure whether the GPA is unweighted or weighted.

wow all those med programs require really high SAT's.

so would the new requirement be abt 2250?

Here's the website for ucsd's medical scholars program:
