<p>You can get some idea from collegesearch.collegeboard.com if the school doesn’t report results for the writing section, in which case they focus primarily on the cr and math sections.</p>

<p>All schools give more weight to math plus CR and CR is particularly important because while you can get out of most colleges without taking hard core math, you must read and comprehend at all.</p>

<p>You don’t pick university based on scores solely. Making the right list of colleges should reflect your interest of major, campus preference, location preference, and financial aid preference, as well as the chance of being admitted (or considered).</p>

<p>If I were forced to come up with a current weighting in the offices of your typical top 100 school adcom, I would put them as 45% CR, 45% Math, 10% Writing. I think each year that data is out that allows colleges to correlate student success with entering SAT scores, the Writing component will increase in value to equal that of CR + M. I’m thinking that will take about 5-8 more years, because initial studies show a stronger correlation to college success with Writing than the other two.</p>

<p>It will still be common to report CR + M as a separate pair though, since for decades those two have been the benchmark, and for the sake of a consistency of data for tracking and comparison, those two will always be looked at as a pair.</p>

<p>Forgot to mention… almost all <em>current</em> college merit scholarship programs evaluate M + CR, but not Writing at all. In other words, when the application for scholarship asks for SAT scores, there are boxes for Math, and CR, but no box for Writing.</p>
