I was wondering if it was better to go to a 4 year grad school and then pursue a career in medicine or go to one of those 7/8 year medical programs straight out of high school. Thoughts anyone?

It’s not that you go to medical school for 8 years, it’s just that you go to college with a seat reserved in their medical school after you graduate. You still get a bachelor’s degree and will be with all the other undergrads. I think the consensus is that if you are doing well enough to get accepted into one of these programs, you’re on the right track to becoming a competetive med school applicant. Because of this, it may be in your best interest to be able to choose the school you go to, do well there, and apply to med school like everyone else.

Yeah, what if, by the end of undergrad, you find out you are interested in engineering or law. You’re forced into the med program. That would be bad.

spongegar, youv’e got a good point, but im 90% sure that i want to do something in the medicine field
