800 CR People Help!!

a strategy that helped me save 4-5 mins, as well as points, on every critical reading part, and saved my friend tons of time as well, was answering the questions on a paragraph right after you read it, then reading the next paragraph and answer its questions, etc., all the while drawing a couple of huge circles around the general questions. This strategy works well because of the line-references in almost every question. I was doubtful at first, but this strategy boosted me (who only reads sports-illustrated and espn the magazine, and sometimes wikipedia) from a 690 to a 760 on the real deal. Try It. It works.

What is the blue book? Did you get it from a bookstore?

can you send me the links? thanks in advance

I got so low on Oct SAT.. I need to improve so badly...

Get a vocab book and keep it in your car. Use it whenever you go out to dinner or are waiting in line for anything. If you study with other people, it's more like a game and it's easier to remember definitions.

You don't have to read classical books, you just have to read something. I got a 780 on the CR w/o any studying at all. The last book I read for pleasure was Harry Potter 6 when it came out -- the last book before that was Harry potter 5 when that came out. 90% of the school required reading I just use sparknotes.

But I can't begin to tell you how much I read online. I read tons of SomethingAwful.com and AOPS.com, and I read quite a few of math problem solving books, but none of this is where people expect to learn how to become better at english.

Anyways, the point is that as long as you read SOMETHING, you'll get better. It just doesn't have to be classical novels.

Yeah, reading is super important because it gets your reading speed up. I think that really helps... I got an 800 both times I took it, and I read like a maniac. Nothing fancy - mostly scifi or Harry Potter or things like that - but I really think that's what helped the most. Faster reading = more time to answer the questions!

Was Barron's 2400 good just for CR or other sections as well? Also, what other books are there that can suppliment my knowledge about the SAT?

Any suggestive hints on how to study?
