800 in Chemistry?

I am currently going through the Zumdahl book in Chemistry, and will be mostly through it when I take this autumn. I also have the Official Subject Test Guide and the Barron's Chem book. Is this enough to get me an 800 in Chemistry, or should I pick up another book?

Thanks :).

DO NOT GET BARRON’S FOR CHEMISTRY. DO NOT GET BARRON’S FOR CHEMISTRY.

the zumdahl book is great and the official book is amazing.

the barron’s chemistry book is the most ridiculously hard chemistry you will see. i consistently got 550-650 on the barron’s tests. when i took the exam on 6/6, 750+. barron’s over-exaggerates many topics that don’t appear on the test. some people might say it’s better, just to be on the safe side, but it is really overkill in terms of difficulty. i’d stick with princeton review…

Really? I actually thought Barron’s was very helpful…

Yea, as long as you really want that 800, Barrons sounds like the one book you do want. One that will overprepare you so that nothing throws you off on test day. I think you should be fine with the books you have.

I’m not sure if this is going to work, but I got the PR SAT II Chem and the AP Barrons Book. The SAT II book tells me what I need to know and tips for the test. The AP explains the material and pretty well in my opinion. I’m retaking it… after i failed the test… =/ (670)

Do you think this method will give me a 750+ ?? I took the AP class, but was WAY off on test day (wisdom teeth)… Plus, I have all summer…

I checked out Barrons but thought it was overkill. I used PR and Sparknotes…got an 800

I used my PR AP chem book and got an 800

NO, Do NOT use those 2 books, it’s not worth the effort studying from those since a lot of their information are useless and Barron’s practice test is NOTHING like the real thing. Stick with Princeton, I skimmed through that book and took the practice tests (getting 760-780) and got a 790 on the real thing.

Barrons is better to study with because it gives you a false but good assumption that the test will be hard. Then when you actually take it, it will be very easy and you will be able to get a good score.

PR is good. Zumdahl is probably bit too much for SAT. The chem paper really sucks. You’d regret having spent more than 6 hours in prep unless you are pretty awful at chem.

yea, actually barron’s is a bit unrealistically difficult
but it’s fine with me
i constantly got 700-730 when doing barron’s
when i did the real test on 6/6, i finished 15’ mins earlier (though i alr found i got 3 or 4 wrongs)
i would recommend a combination of both barron’s and princeton review. anw, barron’s also has some stuffs that princeton review doesn’t have…
and of course, after you finish these 2 books, do the CB test
that’s should be good enough for a 750+

i also agree with Ranka.
just do the Barron’s and when it comes to the real test, you’ll laugh at it

I have to agree with what everyone is saying about the Barron’s book. Study it if you have time and you can to stay on the safe side. But if you’re pressed for time, get another book.

i would say read through pr first, and if u have extra time and want an 800, then extend on certain important (in other words, most frequently tested) topics, then u’ll be fine.
