800 in MAth

how do u get a 800 in MAth? I keep getting in the 610s, and then when I look through my mistakes, I can answer almost half the ones i got wrong.

take a practice test and pinpoint the types of questions you get wrong, then study them separately.

soon you'll crack 700.

get a book with strategies and like etti said practice the ones you missed....of the three sections IMO math is your best bet to get an 800 on

The difference between a 700 and 800 is making as few careless mistakes as possible.

IMO math?

Oh. In-my-opinion.

International Mathematical Olympiad problems are a bit nastier than what you see on the SAT...

why do you think math is the best to get an 800 on?

dancingbear: I don't think they were saying that exactly, but rather that math was his/her best ** bet ** to get an 800 probably because it's the most concrete test out of the three because you can immediately identify your errors and correct them. However, I think most people would agree that an 800 on verbal is the most valuable of the three [this coming from a math major] because verbal and analysis skills are usually going to be the most important in a college student's career, but yeah, though getting an 800 in any section is definitely great.

I agree. Math is the one of the best subjects to easily score an 800. Well, not "easily," but you can predict the types of questions you'll encounter.

Writing, I think, is the easiest though. CR is a whole other animal though.

Then Why Only 525 Studetns Get A Perfect Score Out Of 1.2 Million Or So Taking The Sat Test Every Year?

I wouldn't say math is the easiest -- although most of the questions are fairly simple, this very fact makes it difficult to get a good score. Since the curve is so rough, even making one careless mistake will often keep you from the 800.

so basically taking practice tests and working on the weak areas is good enough?

I think it is enough; it's all you really can do.

practice makes perfect. That is the only thing that will help you get an 800.

I think what they mean to say is that it's the easiest one to prepare for, making it the "easiest."

definitely more than 525, closer to 5000 is my guess
The 75th %tile SAT math at MIT is an 800, so that's 250 kids right there

ya...525 is nothing in comparison to the whole US.

The 525 refers to a perfect score (2400) I think. When you are taking the test, just be paranoid. Make sure you aren't making stupid errors. Also, take practice tests.

Yeah, there's definitely a lot more than 525 that get just a perfect score on math alone, or else the three of us at our school are pretty special. But yeah, math is definitely the easiest IMO [though I am crazy math nerd so maybe that blinds my opinion] but yeah I just think since the answer is so exact and not debatable every time that that's what makes it the simplest in a sense, but maybe I just love math too much ;)

^ ya

there's no subjectivity
