does anyone know if 800Math in old SAT can be considered when getting combined score of New SAT?? For instance, if i got 800 on old, and 750 on New, would the 800 be replaced with 750??

That's funny that CR is supposed to be the hardest. I got an 800 on it, but only a 720 on M and 770 on W.

some schools - the ones who combine, i.e. Stanford, Yale, etc. - do this. They will combine highest scores from any sitting and any version (except the Writing and the SAT II Writing b/c CollegeBoard has said that they're not equivalent). The UCs will not do this.

I disagree with the retaking comment. I got a 800 on Verbal my first time, and then totally ignored it for the second time to focus on my horrible math score (and did score lower, though not that much - 760). I don't think there'd be that many repeats, cuz I'm assuming the people with 800 CR want to aim for the top schools (doesn't everyone who gets an 800?), which do combine, and could care less about SAT to the schools who don't combine b/c they already have a fair chance there.

I got 800 on the old verbal then on the CR. For me the math is the most impressive.

wow... i guess if you have a solid reading background, reading comprehension is an easy 800 or very high score(u know all the words, can read the passages quickly/break passages into simple terms)

for math u can have a strong background but make careless mistakes.. even ppl who have strong math intuition can miss one or two if they cant focus or are careless during the test... thats why i went over every problem twice on sat and it paid off(800).

i want to improve my cr and im just gonna read a lot and drill on the practice problems.. i remember in 7th grade i got like 700M/460V and I improved about a couple hundreds in verbal just by getting older so i think with decent prep over summer i can bring my cr score to over 700.

any tips for cr?
