How many people do you think recieve and 800 in atleast one of the sections?

5000/year? maybe more?

On the old SAT 6,869 in class of 04 scored an 800 verbal and 9,917 in scored an 800 math. 939 scored an 800 in both, so (6,869-939)+(9,917-939)+939=15,847. So, assuming that the writing section has a comparable distribution as the verbal, we could say that 7,000 will probably get an 800 in writing, putting the total of people receiving an 800 in at least one section around 23,000.

Wow thats alot of people indeed.

You also have to take into account people who were retaking it.

E.g., if someone got an 800 verbal + 600 math on his or her first time, then retook it to get a better math score, he or she would presumptively try equally hard on the verbal during the retake.

I think, or one would think, that the writing section yields many more 800s than the verbal. Maybe it's just me, who finds the writing section easy and the verbal difficult.

I really respect those who get an 800 in verbal, that's totally awesome, and much more impressive than an 800 in math and writing, which I got.

Most of my friends seemed to score the best in the writing.

However, one of my friends did worst in writing: 800 Math, 800 Verbal, 790 Writing - 11 essay(!) ;)

Writing must yield a LOT more 800's than CR. Math too. CR 800's are amazing.

You little nut! You just totally copied my comment!

Just kidding. Thank god you agree!

No way..... I think writing is the hardest by far...

I agree with the general concensus that an 800 on critical reading is the most impressive.

Three guys I know did it, one of whom got 2400. (the others 2260 and 2390)

Hopefully I can raise my 690 hehe.

Is CR comparable to Verbal on the old SAT I?

Yes -- It's basically the same, sans analogies...

I think that CR and writing are easiest BY FAR! Math is icky... :)

15,847!?! Good God.

Looking at Northwestern, the acceptance rate for high verbal is 5 percentage points higher than high math. http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/freshman/facts/

Cause everybody and their sister gets high math.

Hmmm... the irony here is that I'm pretty sure that I got an 800 on CR, while I'm crossing my fingers for math and have given up on writing after the essay. I agree that CR seems harder, but it doesn't have the same possibility for catastrophic error.

Now that I think about it, CR seems to be the easiest section to me. This is really weird, since I've been a math person my entire life and haven't read a book for.... lol, a long time. I suppose that the test will just remain mysterious.

Yeah, CR is my easiest section too, then Math, then that ungodly Writing.

Yeah. I do much better on math and reading than on writing.
