8th Grade (New) SAT Score - Can I keep it?

In 8th grade, I took the SAT for CTY and scored 2170: 650M, 760CR, 760W with 11 essay. While I'm definitely aiming to improve this year, it's a perfectly respectable score and I'd love to keep it on my record (for the superscored 760s). Is this possible? Can I just call/email CB and ask them to keep it on my transcript, or do I have to pay a fee, or is it point-blank not allowed?

The College Board wipes out 7th/8th grade SAT scores sometime during the summer. If you want to keep the score, you will need to write to the College Board to let them know you want to keep the score, assuming you took the SAT this past school year. (If you took it earlier than that, it's probable your scores have already been wiped.) Call now to let them know to keep your score, and then follow that up with a written request. I think the request is supposed to be in by the end of June.

Ack. It's been three years. XD Ah well, I figured it was a long shot anyway.

You genius!

definitely you have huge advantage. how long does SAT score last ? If it last 2 years, take about 2 tests in sophomore year and you are done. try to focus on stuff at school

I believe that starting with 9th grade, SATs are part of the permanent record. I'm just kicking myself for not thinking about this earlier, back when I could have done something.

And my PSATS were 219--CR and W balanced each other out, M went up exactly 20 points = one question. It's not that great getting an early decent score; I'm self-pressured now to beat or match those 760s.

^ just warning you, don't be overconfident.

my brother's friend got a 1500 in 5th grade; then got a 1200 in 11th. OUCH!

:)) of course he has to keep it.
You are award so much and now everything invisible will try to take it away from ya

Anon, that's exactly what I'm afraid of. I think the percentage is ~60-70% students who get 760 on their first try, score lower on their second. Eek.

Yes, that's right -- starting in 9th grade, the College Board keeps SAT scores.

Since your 8th grade SATs were taken three years ago, they are gone. I don't know whether colleges would use 8th grade SATs when superscoring, anyway; of course the date you took the test would be the giveaway as to the grade you were in.

you can't keep it, oh well
but look on the bright side--your math has the potential to grow, and even if your CR and W sections remain constant, you can still boost your score to a 2320!

0.0 HOLY CHEET. * curses under breath * 2170???!!!
* gawks and oogles *
i took it in 7th for the first time and got 1990:
CR 670
M 620
W 700 [essay 10 ]

yeah, you totally kicked my butt. * sigh *
anyway, they won't let you keep it. only high schoolers can. * sniff *

^ I didn't take it in 7th grade (mom thought it was too early), but average scores do go up significantly in a year.

And hey, at least it'll be easy for you to improve.

they delete the SAT scores?
i ordered a official transcript from my school and my 7th and 8th grade scores are int here :o

If you reported the SAT grade to your school, yes, they might list it on there. (Not that they should, mind you, without asking you first, but that's another thread.) But that doesn't mean the College Board has kept it. If you have a College Board account, you can see whether the score is there.

My S is in the opposite category; his 8th grade SAT still shows on his College Board account (because he got a 2180, so you can bet I wrote to the College Board and asked that it be kept!!), but his high school couldn't list it on his transcript because they never received it. When he took the SAT, we didn't know where he'd be going to high school, not that he'd have listed a high school anyway.

He also took the SAT as a 7th grader, and that score is NOT on his College Board account; I didn't realize it would be wiped out until after it was wiped out.

Uhg. My school won't let you take any until Freshman year. I think for the SAT/ACT it's even up to only Juniors and Seniors.

tubachick, different organizations such as CTY or TIP run yearly talent searches; middle schoolers get to take the SAT because of their participation in the talent search. They have to list the talent search sponsor as the "high school" to which to report SAT scores (and usually pay an extra fee for participating in the talent search), though they take the SAT at any high school offering it.

I'm not certain this is the case, but my understanding is that a pre-high schooler can't simply sign up for the SAT, that to take it, he/she has to go through some other organization, such as a talent search, in order to register for it.

I got a 1350 on my 7th grade SAT.
any props for me?

Do colleges accept SAT scores earned in the 8th grade? My daughter got a 2260, and we asked that the score not be deleted. Does she have to take it again? The score is still in her College Board records and in her high school record.

@ einstein If the score has remained in the records, I don’t see why it can’t be used.
(@Saxtus Great job bringing back a 5+ year old thread!.. lol. A 1350 is below the national average for everyone; IMO it’s only respectable if its in the top 10% and preferably without much studying.)
