Hey, my friend is a 9th grader and she has recently received a 5 in AP Calc AB. its not probably something so special or anything, but are there many ppl like her in the world? If so, approximately how many ppl (i mean, just getting 5 for AP Calculus specifically)? 50?...100?

Well I don't know if you could really find out specifically per grade, though I remember reading some charts on ap central and if I'm not mistaken [which I very well could be], middle schoolers and eighth graders have the highest percentage of 5's and passing rates, though when you think it about it, it does make sense.

that's just so...weird. hmm...i predict around 80 9th graders get 5 for Calc.

Never mind, I found something, 2,028 or 15.51% of freshman received a 5, and 7,475 freshman passed or 57.16%, so hmm, I wouldn't go as far to say it's common but not rare.

that's amaziing, in 8th grade I didn't even know that something like AP existed (those were the good old days)

Never mind that's for all AP tests, so yeah let's put it at rare

Sorry I hope I'm making sense, but to clarify, the numbers I just shared were for all tests taken in 2005, though I'd figure calc would be sort of popular, though of course not as many.

I think Calc would be the most common AP taken by middle schoolers, since, at least in my experience, it's far more common to see middle schoolers accelerate into advanced math than anything else. I'd predict that at least 75% of those 2028 were Calc exams.

2005 AP exams taken by 9th graders.

Calc AB - 155
Calc BC - 101
Bio - 1052
Human Geo - 4247
Span Lang - 2115
World Hist - 2910

Total - 13077

yawn...i got state ap scholar in 9th grade

Wait, I think I mixed up middle school and 9th grade. A, screw it. They're too close to be considered different anyway (and I don't feel like thinking that hard after midnight). :D

I feel bad for whoever's parents made them take AP in middle school and then they got a 1...poor kids.

I got a 5 on Calc BC as a sophmore, but I skipped 1 grade, so I'm "supposed" to be a freshman.

Its not that special. So what if you took AP with a 5 in your freshman year? So what if you learned AP - level material when you were 90 years old? You studied it, and that's the only point that matters.

In 2005, 6681 Asians (3.6% of population) and 14343 whites (75% of population) got a 5 in AP Calculus BC, which means that Asians are 9.7 times more likely to achieve this feat.

When you say asians, are you including Caucasians? Since they are also asians.

i got a 6 on AP pornography when i was in 6th grade
j/k

i think a 5 in ap cal is very possible for 9th graders, or even 8th graders, especially for those eastern asian immigrants like japanese, chinese or korean, their schools r just crazy.

i myself moved from china, and when i came to USA i was 9th grader, and i really started to learn stuff when i was 11th grader, the rest 2 yrs r just like sleeping through whole yr (school doesnt allow me to take ap cal T.T)

When you say eastern asians, are you including Indians?

Caucasians are not Asians.

Indians are not East Asians.

Last time I checked Caucus Mountains are in Asia, and India was also in Asia. Race and ethnicity are two different things; since Indians are Caucasians and Asians! Check the facts.
