a B!!

i just found out that I got a B (88) in one of my AP classes for 1st semester. I realize that a B is not the end of the world, but does this ruin my chances at the top schools? For example, are my chances at an Ivy League shot once they see my mid-year record?
I’m rlly worried abt this…plz respond.
thanks.

If the rest of your app is strong one B won't kill you. Last year my daughter got a B in German and still got into several top schools.

It'll probably count as an A since it's an AP class.

yeah..but thats only if the colleges weight the grade.
if they consider my grades unweighted, it would still be a B.
are senior yr grades very important in the admissions process?

If you haven't had a B or lower before then i may be slightly detrimental in the admissions process. However, i don't think it will have that much of an effect considering that it is an AP class, and that you were really close to an A, they will most likely understand.

How about a B and a B-? B in AP Lit, B- in Multivariable Calculus with Computers at UC Berkeley....

i got an 89 in an ap class for this last semester, but i knew before break what my grade was, so i'm cool with it. i doubt one grade will be the reason i get rejected or accepted, and if it is, i'd rather not go to that school anyway.

irock: the B and B- will be like what i said to daisy. AP lit and Multivariable Calc are nearly the hardest classes a student can take, and a B and B- will not have that large of an affect.

***ing freaks, trying to get attention

im sorry, i couldnt help myself

b's are okay, as long as they dont butcher your gpa (i mean, limit your b's to only a couple classes). listen to muhali

God forbid...

i know people with D's who've gotten into repectable schools. ur worrying over nothing. good luck

it's no big deal.

thanks for your advice everyone.
i'm not trying to be whiny, lol. i know its not a huge deal, but i got 1 B last yr too in another ap class, and i'm just worried that colleges will view this as a downward trend...maybe they'll keep in mind that my courses have gotten much harder in junior and senior yr?

wanna hear an upward trend?
9th: 2.4 , about 3 D's
10th: 2.5ish, about 2 D's
11: 3.7, All A's B+'s 1 B, 3 ib classes
12th: 4.2, A's and B's , 5 IB classes

what now fool?!

I went from:
9th: 3.5
10th: 4.0
11th. 4.5
12th: 5.0

hmm...thats not too bad...i have about 5 D's on my trancript...can u top that?

wow glassjawer NICEEE JOB!!! job well done

i got a couple of C's freshman year, but the most important thing is that we both have important, considerably. That helps both of our chances at any school we apply to.

Cheers
