I got a B, is this going to seriously affect me?

I know there is a lot more to your application than grades, but only considering the grades will one B affect me a lot? I have been getting straight A's but I got a B in honors english because i failed my final. If I work really hard to continue getting straight A's will they overlook the one B? Will the B affect me negatively when I am compared to students who did get straight A's? And I was wondering if schools looked at unweighted GPA also, because this would make my unweighted a 3.9 (my weighted is 4.5 after the B).

You got a B and you applied to Stanford? Why would you even apply with a B…kidding. Relax, you’ll be fine. Grades are only meant to be indicative of whether or not you can handle the workload at a university, and, if you only have one B and the rest are A’s, I’m sure they’ll believe that you can.

I got three B’s in high school and I still got in, you have not killed your chances. :)

I agree with the previous posts. There’s a thread lurking around somewhere on CC and it’s titled something along the line of “I got into Stanford with a 3.4 GPA… It’s possible.” I’m sure that person had some B’s. So no worries :)

I’ve gotten FOUR B’s and I got into Stanford.

your entire hs career or senior year? If so, you are my inspiration.

I’ve gotten FIVE B’s and I got into Stanford!

It was my entire high school career. I’m on track to only get one or two B’s this year, and that’s only if I get lazy.

I never knew people with so many B’s could get into Stanford. It makes me wonder what the Devil Stanford truly wants…

lol so many Bs? out of the 42 classes I have taken, every one of them honors or AP except for band, 37 were As and 5 were Bs…haha no need to relax just yet

Cry more
Grades aren’t everything

i definitely would not advertise that you failed your final
in my opinion that was stupid not to study but it should not GREATLY impact ur admission decision.
if they were planning to admit/reject you, i dont think the 1 B will tip the scale.

No. Don’t worry about it.

Got 3 and in
