a bad lit score followed by a very good one... would the good one make up for it?

I have a complicated SAT score history:

I had 760 and 720 for CR before I got 800 in Oct 2007.

I took a SAT II Lit in Jan 2008 and I screwed up.

I'm deciding whether or not to cancel the Lit score. Should I cancel it if I know it's gonna be bad, but I am going to retake it and score well on it? Say if I get high 750s' in June, but 650-700s in Jan. Would that June score make up for my terrible JAn 2008 Lit score if I do not cancel the Jan score? How would they look at it?

(I'm a pure sci student btw - never had any humanities or lit lesson in my last 2 years of school)
And if I do NOT retake my Lit, I have three 800s in Sci/Math SAT IIs. My Jan SAT II Lit will definitely be lower than 700. would colleges REALLY consider ONLY my highest SAT IIs in Sci/Math? I'm sure they still see the Lit score. how does this work, then?

A more important factor in my decision to cancel or not: would the poor Jan 2008 Lit score undermine my 800 in CR in Oct 2007? After all, I took Lit just very recently, three months, after CR, and my CR history isn't very consistent either. They are somewhat correlated, I feel, since they require similar skills.

Anyone, please help! I'm having a terrible headache about this. thanks!

I think you've gotten as much help as your going to get, no matter how many different ways or places you ask....

^^^ nice Shrinkrap :)

I'm in the same situation, but I am not going to cancel. Dis you get disheartened when you went on the Lit 08 forum? Yeah, I saw I made many mistakes (its so damn convoluted), but I am not going to cancel. Only because its lit, who knows who is right and who is wrong? CR is much more straightforward, I would wait out the Lit score.

I ave heard many times people have felt like crap about their lit and end up with high scores, I hope that happens to us.

I guess I'm gonna keep asking till Wednesday 11:59pm. I'd REALLY hate myself if I end up making the wrong decision. I know in life we can't always be 100% spot on, but that's just me.

akahmed: how many did you get wrong/omit? I feel like I had too many omissions and uncertain answers, even more than in my practice test, for which I got 740.

I'm really okay with not cancelling as long as it doesn't undermine my CR score.

I don't think it can undermine your CR score

CR and Lit are two different skills. Does a low Chinese SAT score undermine a high Spanish SAT? No colleges automatically expect on any level whatsoever a stellar Literature once you get an 800 cr (nice job btw)

And they know Literature is hard for math science people like me. If you can pull even a high 600 then thats already saying something. I know that may not be to your standards but hey, you very well could have done better. You can't possible know on this forum what the right or wrong answer is. You could be right,... or wrong. So, don't base your judgments on what every agrees the answer is/should be, they could be wrong.

Also, I would just receive the score, because you could do good enough and be done with it. Too long have we suffered early Saturday mornings in musty classrooms trying to prove our worth. Btw, the score doesn't mean the world. Also, if you're not satisfied you can take it again. Just because you have a lower previous score doesn't undermine a potential new 800 Lit. It just shows you know how to work hard and improve yourself, and care enough.

I think I probably got 8-9 wrong, with no omits. Idk, it was hard.
