Occasionally I visit the sites of other schools on this board - mainly the usual suspects, the ivies and ivy-pluses. It always seems to me, impressionistically, that they are less active than the UChicago site. (They also seem less interesting, but perhaps I’m prejudiced.) Maybe a counting of posts per day, or some such precise measurement, would belie my impression. But, if not, to what exactly do you attribute the hyper-activity of this site? I have some ideas but am interested in what others think.
At the other ivy plus schools, it’s pretty much just business as usual. It’s been this way for years.
At Chicago, stake holders have more of an inclination to opine, AND the school’s experienced some fairly big policy shifts over the past few years.
Also the other forums are more students focused and driven with threads like "My Chance … ", “How to get in …”.
Here many threads are school focused with threads like " … UChicago …".
As a parent I sort of like to see broader topics.
We like to argue.
