lmao like that title

@emilsinclair9, the “official” deadline is May 1, although others have mentioned that it is rolling; your best bet is most likely to get in on time (you have a month and change). They take ACTs, if you mean to say that you took one and not the other, but if you haven’t taken either test, now would be the time.

Eh, there are some conflicting factors with Clemson, I love the school but I have an ex going there… :/

Oh and yeah, I’m absolutely in love with UNC-CH at the moment!

If I don’t get in, I’ll be crushed :(

I’ve never taken either test, but I’m thinking it would be pointless to apply, right? I have to send in my SIR to one of the UC’s by June 1st. Since I would likely not hear back from NU in time, wouldn’t it be sort of meaningless to apply?

For example, say I get into UCB, I need to let them know by June 1st. However, if NU doesn’t notify me by June 1st, I’d have to send in my SIR to Berkeley instead.

Is there a way around this that I’m clearly ignorant of?

You can do two things: Ask UCB for an extension to reply, or pay the deposit now and then withdraw from UCB if you get into NU and want to go there instead. In that case you probably wouldn’t get your deposit back though.

Ahh ok, thank you for the info. Yeah, so it would be a good idea to still apply.

Does anyone know what the average SAT/ACT score to NU is for admitted transfers?

I’m confident that I could score between 1900 and 2100.

Transfer info is never available. Here’s the latest common data set from NU with average SAT/ACT listed for freshmen: [2008-09 First-time, first-year (freshman) admission, Common Data Set - Northwestern University](http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/commondata/2008-09/c.htm). Scroll down to where it says “freshman profile.”

Thank you again, I really appreciate it! I’ll definitely consider taking the SAT.

yeah defintely apply. I applied to a bunch of schools with VERY different decision dates. If i must I will pay all of the deposits (losing 1-2k deposits in my opinion means nothing to me compared to the value of a college education which I would enjoy, you know?)

I think you shud do that if you have to. like the poster said, you can request an early decision or ask for an extension.

and wow 1900-2100 will be very competitive for transfer admissions, go for it!

I just discovered that Bates, the first place I hear from, got 146 transfer applications last year. You know how many they accepted? Two.

Pity. I actually really liked Bates.

what??? 2/146 that’s…I don’t even have the word for it Maybe the numbers will change this year? Is Bates your first choice? Have faith linala!

Haha, thanks jamapelle! I honestly don’t really have a first choice. I’ll be happy if ANYONE takes me, haha. I’m not too worried about it. Whatever happens, happens. I’ve done everything I can.

Waitlisted at Bates. Am pleasantly surprised.

linala, that’s awesome. I know Bates takes very few transfers. where else did you apply to transfer/ where are you transferring from?

Thanks, vanwilder. I’ve also applied to Amherst, Colby, Sarah Lawrence, Skidmore, and UChicago, coming from the University of South Carolina. Keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of them!

oh wow , they give out their decisions pretty quick eh? waitlisted is good news, especially given the transfer rate, who knows maybe a spot will open up for you! i’m keeping my fingers crossed for us all

I agree good job Linala! I am rooting for you to get off the waitlist and into bates

Thanks so much guys :)
