Is it true that Penn gives a boost to applicants from PA? I’m from a rural area about an hour outside Philly. Will this help any?

i think if you're in the mainline it won't help. but people from rural areas in general do get small boosts. just make sure you're at the top of your class if you're from a weaker high school.

Penn is not a state school and doesn't give any preferential in-state students. If anything, they prefer out-of-state students to enhance their diversity (or at least their appearance of it).

But the people running admissions are smart and they will notice you are from a rural area. That gets points.

I know Philly apps get a boost. I dont know about PA apps though, Id guess no.

Yeah, I had heard about Philly apps getting a boost, and once I had heard that rural PA gets a boost too, but I wasn't sure.
