<p>For the UPenn will they prefer someone who is from a very rural and low income area in Pennsylvania?? I was wondering if that would have any affect..</p>
<p>Top private colleges usually like to minimize the number from in state and they usually have lots of student applying, lots of faculty kids and legacies, so it’s probably not an advantage.</p>
<p>I don’t think it would be a preference, but they would compensate for it. In other words, a top college realizes that there are fewer opportunities at smaller rural schools, such as fewer AP classes, less help from guidance counselors, etc.</p>
