What kind of preparation would you need in order to work for an organization like World Bank? Would going to business school be appropriate? Would a major in Econ be good also? I'd like to think that I could go to Business school and make money and a difference.

1) A connection.

2) A ph.d in economics from a very good school. (top 50 worldwide)

If you are actually interested in making a difference, there are maaaaany other international organisations and NGOs that would pay you decently and still have you involved in development. They would also be less competitive, since anything (including investment banking) is less competitive than getting a job at the world bank.

Thanks nauru

Could more people please add input?

If you don't have connections, it helps to be from a developing nation.

If he was, it certainly wouldn't be at the world bank. It's not exactly a humanitarian organization, if you know what I mean.
