I've always been interested in working for the World Bank (interesting subject matter and decent money, not to mention the refund of income tax for U.S. citizens.) What kind of major would preprare me best for working at the World Bank? What about graduate school?

economics would be the most obvious one i could think of. maybe international affairs or political science. statistics would probably be useful. anything along those lines and you'd be alright i think.

The best route is probably to get a PhD in economics and specialize in something development related. If that doesn't appeal to you though, an MA in international affairs with a lot of development and econ classes might do the trick. SAIS has a fairly strong connection with the World Bank, and sends 4-5 people there every year.
