a change of focus: not that interested in my major anymore

I have one more year to go in Linguistics and only four more classes (all in the spring) so I will go ahead and ride it out.

I will, however, be applying to gradschool in the fall (for 2007 entry) and after giving it much though, I cannot see myself pursuing linguistics. I just don't think I have it in me to do this at the grad level. Yes, I like the subject, but I'm not that into it based on a number of reasons, but mainly because I can't see myself getitng a job outside of academia. I like the way it has taught me to look at langauge and it helps a lot when I am studying other languages, but other than that, I see no need to continue it after my BA.

Now I have to look at other programs I may be interested in and so far, these have caught my eye.

Combined Accounting MS/MBA at Northeastern (no accounting exp req'd)----this is most appealing because it's designed for students with no business experience, has great co-oping oppertunities and is more likely to get me a job after graduating. Its 15 months long including a paid co-op. If I get accepted here and do well, I would tryt o get my foot int he door at a firm in Boston and work there for 3 to five years. I'd take the CPA exam within that time. After working full-time, I'd look for a government position, possibly abroad in Italy or a French speaking country.

MA in Central & Western European Studies at Yale--this is appealing because it's an area studies program....I would have the chance (with special arrangement) to continue my Hungarian.

MA in European Studies at NYU (though that's iffy because I am not sure about being in NYC...I'll consider it though)--this is appealing for the same rason as the Yale program, except I would only focus on W. Europe

I'm still trying to look for alternatives, but for now, I am seriously thinking of removing Linguistics from my graduate future.

Anyone have any suggestions for other programs? I like to be able to incorporate my language in my studies OR later on in my career. Northeastern will be the only business school I apply to because of the fact that this particular program does not weigh work-experience and having a previous knowledge in accounting as important factors.
