A Cohesive Theme

<p>How many people here are thinking of coming up with a single theme and carrying it through their application? I was thinking that this would be an easy way to make sure my applications are focused, not scattered or off-kilter. </p>

<p>I'm thinking my theme would be "doing my part". I'd focus all the elements of my application into the theme of responsibility. I.e., work is my main EC so it's "doing my part" to support my family, my potential majors are IR/poli-sci based, so it'd be "doing my part" in the world... etc. etc. This will help me gather ideas for my essays and focus my efforts.</p>

<p>That is one way to approach it! I also like the other way where you present all facets, not just your “doing my part” side, to show colleges exactly who you are in different lights, giving you more depth. However, since you are writing about very different subjects under this theme, I think you’ve got the right idea.</p>

<p>Mine would be something along the lines of taking care of my “people”, whether that means family, design crew in theatre, sports team, etc. and how I would do so in college as well. So basially, similar to yours :]</p>
