A Cold Campus?

<p>I've heard that Columbia's student body is relatively unfriendly and even pretentious, and that the campus can seem somewhat cold in terms of atmosphere. I know that this can be attributed mostly to Columbia's Manhattan location...and the fact that there is so much going on that there is no need for students to be on campus all the time...hence a lack of community. I also know that Columbia does have a central campus, and is not as meshed with the actual city environment as, say, NYU. </p>

<p>By no means am I insulting Columbia's students...I am just a prospective freshman presenting the worst that I have heard in hopes of dispelling disheartening rumors. </p>

<p>Can anyone voice an opinion on these generalizations?</p>
