I know that minors arent that important and all but which of these would look best in terms of job outlook. I'm going to be attending the University of Illinois, so like a top 20 b-school.

Finance, Minor in Math
Accounting, Minor in Math
Finance, Minor in Spanish
Accounting, " "

I know Finance isn't a great option as U of I is the top finance school or anything but I'm more interest in it. Thanks

There’s actually a user here who minored or majored in all of those fields. I’m sure he can be of service.

If you want to do finance, you’re probably best off with a major in finance and minor in accounting at most universities. However, since UIUC has a much stronger accounting program, you might want to do accounting and minor in finance and you could still likely pursue a lot of the same jobs.

I wish but i dont think you can minor in accounting or finance at U of I?

It seems you are right. UIUC has a very specific list of allowed minors and there’s only a ‘business minor’ for non-business majors in the school of business. I just checked.

Answering your question according to your specific parameter of ‘job outlook’ only, accounting is definitely the best option. UIUC has the name and the events for the accounting area, so if you can pull a good GPA, a job is almost guaranteed as long as you take advantage of the networking opportunities.
