So, I just got accepted into the School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers NB. I also applied to the School of Engineering. I want to be a chemical engineer so I really hope to get into this school. The application for the engineering school is still "In Process" so what are the chances of me getting into this school as well?

Another question is will I be able to pick my roommate? My friend applied for nursing and we've talked about rooming together if he is accepted. Will I be able to room with him if I go for engineering because I heard there is a special dorm for engineering majors.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

No one can answer this?

Isn’t there a Rutgers forum on CC? You might have better luck there.

I know a lot of people on here are saying how they have been accepted already, but Rutgers have until February to notify people of their decision. I didn’t get an acceptance until early January. In terms of stats, I really can’t determine it for the Engineering school, but if you have a generally good GPA, rank, and SAT score, you can get in. The school is not as competitive like the Pharmacy (which I think is a 7% acceptance rate), but I think it is a bit higher than the School of Arts and Sciences.

You can pick your roommate, but I don’t think you can room together in the Engineering dorm. Barr hall on Busch houses the first year engineering students – both male and female. **Mattia hall/B houses the first year engineering students as well, but I think it is still all male (or at least it was when I came to Rutgers back in 2008).

I don’t know too well how the housing process goes with the engineering students. I don’t think you have to live in Barr or Mattia; I believe on the housing contract it might allow you to choose specifically to live in an Engineering community. Or not.

If you do get the choice to opt out of either engineering dorms, then you’ll be able to dorm with your friend in the other BAMM dorms on Busch – Allen or Metzger. They are cool dorms. I lived in Metzger my freshman year and loved it.

If worse comes to worst and you have to live in an Engineering dorm, you can always opt to room with your friend sophomore year.

Good luck to you and your friend =]
