The scholarship instructions say that the application and teacher recs should come in one complete package, but my son's school typically has the teacher recs and transcripts sent directly from the school. Does anyone know if it's okay to send the app and recs in separately?

Then have your son give his application to the teacher to send in with the teacher recommendation. They shouldn't need transcripts those will be sent by guidance as part of the regular application.

Yes, that would work. The problem with that, though, is that at his school the teacher recs have already been turned into the college counseling office and the college counseling office wants all applications, transcript requests, everything for all schools turned in by December 1st (no matter what the deadline) so they can have them sent out before winter break. There is no way my son will have the scholarship essays completed to turn in with his app by Friday. He's going to check with his school if he can turn it all in after winter break given that the deadline isn't until January 15th.

I'll bet your guidance office will be somehat flexible on that. It's a scholarship application. You'd hope that they would be somewhat flexible about the whole process. The students and parents should help guidance out whenever possible to, it's a rwo way street.

Good Luck.
