What classes do you wish were offered at your school? What class would you "invent" if you were given the chance? At my school, we only have a little bit of classes offered. I wish that we had another foreign language, such as Portuguese or.something.

I wish we had Latin.

I wish there was a class dedicated solely to Classical history - specifically that of Greece and the Roman Empires. My Latin classes review Rome itself somewhat (about 15% of the curriculum) - but I wish there was a class I could take that was dedicated solely to Greco-Roman culture and history.

The only foreign language we offer is Spanish (which I LOVE)…I wish we had French and Japanese because my dad speaks French and my brother taught himself Japanese.

I also wish we had:
A class solely on the world wars.
A class where you got to carry out your own research in any field
A philosophical history class

I wish we had a Life Skills class. We could learn about how to file taxes, how to file a mortgage, etc. I’m going to go into the world not knowing how to do these things.

modern italian history (1750 to present)
east african history
international marketing
animal science
social media
social media marketing

We don’t have honors physics, AP Calculus AB or BC, foreign languages other than Spanish and French, honors foreign language classes, or honors social studies classes other than APUSH. So I’d start with that stuff.

I would love to be able to take a law class!
Also, I wish Mock Trial was a class.

Modern British Television. Or if not that, screenwriting.

Mathematical proof techniques. I realize that a good undergraduate education in mathematics introduces the student to various proofs along the way toward the goal represented by a bachelor’s degree (i.e. broad familiarity with all the branches of mathematics), but it would be nice to spend a semester learning what actually makes a good proof and working on the skills that separate a mathematician from someone who knows a lot about mathematics.

I want Japanese 4H/AP classes at my school because I’m Japanese and pretty proficient at it, but I’m so busy and I can only take 2 hour long lessons once a week. I really wanna be proficient, so yeah.

Latin
German
AP Economics (I’m doing this Independent Study next semester though)
Current Social Issues (my school offered this my freshmen & sophomore years, but discontinued it my junior year)
Computer Science
Neuroscience
Calculus II
African History
Genetics
21st Century Literature (would be so much less painful than crap from the 15th Century…)

Latin
Philosophy
Dead Languages (it’s a club, but I wish it was an actual club)
Biochemistry
Neuroscience/Neuroanatomy
African-American History

I wish my school had a creative writing class. All the other schools in my district have one.
I would invent a broadcast journalism class, although there might be such a class in other parts of the country.

Classes that exist that I wish were offered:
AP World History
AP Computer Science A

Nonexistent classes that would be cool:
AP Astronomy
AP Mathematics past Calculus BC (Calculus D/Linear Algebra/Differential Equations)
Creative Writing

LATIN!

Also:
-Multivar
-Number Theory (I’m a math geek so I just think that would be really really cool)
-AP Micro/Macro
-Poetry and Creative Writing
-Theory of Knowledge (I realize this is already a class that exists in the IB program but 1. I don’t go to an IB school and 2. My friends that do say it’s not really true to it’s name)
-AP Gov’t and Politics
-AP Psych
-A yoga and meditation class as an alternative to taking gym

ap creative writing
ap harry potter
ap ya novels
ap walking dead
ap shopping
ap cats

-Anatomy and Physiology
-Medical Terminology
-Animal Sciences
-an English class dedicated to reading YA novels
-a class where you could intern with a few different jobs throughout the year
-Media Law
-Forensics
-More specific alternatives to gym; such as a class on running that prepared you for a 10k or something, weightlifting, yoga, etc.
-A class on more interesting and lesser known history
-Some sort of Journalism(ish) class where you analyzed movies and television shows
-Life Skills (to teach you how to file taxes, apply for loans, etc.)

I could go on and on…

A real computer science class.

Wumbology.
