Does anybody else dislike their foreign language class?

The title says it all, but I just wanted to know if anyone else felt the same. It seems like everyone I talk to loves their foreign language class except me.

No. It makes me miserable. I’m pretty sure my French is getting worse. I don’t learn anything and I hate the teacher. Why did I take French all 4 years in school?

YESSSSSSSSSSS, I HATE it. Book activities and tests on the book activities sum up my Spanish 3 class.

Hate it because there are no honors language classes at my school until 11th grade (I’m in 10th). We move at an extremely slow pace and half the kids in my class didn’t know where Spain was.

I enjoy learning new languages, but I loathe my class.

My school decided to combine Spanish IV with the dual enrollment Elementary Spanish I class since neither class had very many students signed up. We are following the Elem Span I curriculum, so it’s less advanced than the Spanish III course I took last year which is super annoying - it’s a total waste of time because I’m not learning anything new.

I also dislike my teacher. I’ve had her for 2.5 years now and I’m honestly just sick of her. She thinks her class is the only important one (she literally yelled at me when I missed class because my mom had a stroke and I chose to spend time with my mom in the hospital…). She’s also just rather old fashioned and won’t let you use the internet to look up words and other stuff like that. Her mantra is “this is college, folks” but ironically hands out coloring worksheets and other pointless busywork-like assignments and proceeds to micromanage everybody.

If I actually learned something in Spanish, I’d like it a lot more.
I really want to take a Latin class or German class too, but my school doesn’t offer either.

lol no

I have a 99.4% in Chinese 2H. Dumb sophomores provide regular entertainment for me, and during tests, the cheating students get caught. And I can work on homework + use my phone if I want to.

Though Spanish class is easy to excel in, I could never find the motivation to do so. This was because of a combination of the unmotivated teachers and the fact that the language exam at the end was not mandatory to graduate. I got by with a high 80 on the exam though. I still hated the class.

We spend most of the time in IB Spanish either watching telenovelas, or reading articles and answering the questions in our textbooks. A few times a marking period, we have to do oral presentations and in-class essays, but overall, the workload isn’t too intense, especially in comparison to the IB French class, and my other IB classes in general. We get homework almost every night - usually it’s just a few questions in our textbook - but it takes me no more than five minutes to do, so I do it either in the morning or the class before Spanish. Also, we have to spend at least 30 minutes a week playing Spanish vocab games, which is really helpful and worth ~50% of our total marking period grade.

I’ve always liked learning new languages, so in general, I like Spanish class. It can get frustrating at times since everything is 100% in Spanish and we’re not allowed to speak English, but I still get mostly A’s in the class, and will probably be in Spanish Honor Society next year.

I strongly dislike Spanish.

I don’t mind learning the language at all, and actually kind of enjoy it. But the class is a stupid waste of time. The teachers cater to the stupid kids (and the ones who pretend to be stupid), so we learn things painfully slowly. We spend insane amounts of time to learn the tiniest things. I really can’t take the class seriously lol. I spend the whole time on my phone or working on homework for other classes, which for some reason makes my teacher mad even though we hardly do anything in the class 90% of the time and I ace all the tests.

It’s okay. I dislike a person in my class though,

i don’t feel that 'm learning enough in spanish

I absolutely adored my French class…wish my school offered AP French.

I hate it. Along with everyone else in my class.
It is so boring.

I love learning Latin but the class always feels twice as long as my other classes. I don’t think I hate or dislike it, per se - but it isn’t the most thrilling thing I could go through on a daily basis. Teacher is lovely, the kids are nice, so I guess I’m ok.

I dislike Spanish this year specifically. I guess I’ve been lucky up until now, but my teacher this year sucks. She makes sly insulting comments and then acts like she didn’t mean it when you confront her. She literally told me she can’t wait to see me fail the Unit test when I didn’t do my vocab. Obviously, I should have done my stupid vocab, but that comment was completely unnecessary. I was speechless she had the nerve to say something so disrespectful, especially when I got the highest grade in the class on the last Unit test.

Also she’s super conceited; she acts as if she’s the only Spanish teacher who’s doing things right and will truly get us to learn Spanish. Yet what does she do? Hand out lots of busy work she never grades, yeah, that’s original. She’s just overall really agitating and I can’t stand being around her.

I hate my Spanish class, but only because of the teacher, I love learning languages. All she does is give us busywork that is usually some form of create a poster on this and present it or a coloring packet. I literally have three grades in from the entire year, whereas I have like 50ish for each of my other classes…

It’s weird; at our school, the people in Spanish say it’s hard and boring, but the people in French and German really like it for the most part.

At my high school, French was a joke. We literally just had vocab tests of like 10 words and then learned whatever Mme wanted us to. The book was a supplement in that class; it was all based on what she said and wrote on the board. We learned the pass

Hate it. Worst spanish class ever. I dislike the language…soo much. I’m in spanish 4 by the way…for some stupid reason I skipped spanish 1. worst decision ever. -_-
