A few Cornell Questions

First of all, Merry Christmas! (To those who celebrate Christmas :P)

I haven't been able to find the answers to a few of these questions, so if anyone could help me out, it would be much appreciated.

If using the primary/alternate option, does the primary college read the essay you wrote for the alternate college and vice versa?

Also, I've heard that if you're rejected from your primary option, most people are rejected from their alternate as well. That is, very few get in through the alternate option. Is this true?

Thanks for your help :)

yeah, at my info session when i visited, they said that if the primary rejected you, the alternate might not even look at your application.

Ok. Never heard of that, but thats definately interesting.

I feel like I want to utilize the chance for the alternate admission, I don’t want to apply to my alternate with a poor essay if my primary will read it and use it to judge me. Also, does anyone know if the primary even sees that you’re applying to an alternate? Maybe thats looked down upon by the admissions office?

Honestly, I believe that they say they don’t, but the alternate essay is always right there…but they admit very few as I’ve been told for alternate admission. I don’t know one person at Cornell who was admitted through alternate admission. I am exception though. I applied to CALS only and I was called up and asked if I wanted my application reviewed by CAS. I said yes, and I got into CAS as a Bio + Soc major.

^Wow, thats pretty cool. I wonder why they didnt accept you to CALS in the first place though.
