A few long questions. Any help is welcome(:!

Hi! So I have some random questions, that I thought could get answered here!

I have some random EC’s that I don’t know if I can put on my application?

-I was homeschooled for two years of high school, and during that time I became depressed and other than school the only thing I could do was teach myself piano. I wasn’t very good, but I did learn the keys and could play through songs without messing up. I eventually stopped and now remember most of it but vaguely, can I put this down? I plan to start practicing again, next month but was wondering if that was worth it to put it on my app?

-My younger sister opened up an Etsy shop/online store. I became her “online persona.” I marketed, sold, talked to people, and brought people to her store. (She loved this, she hates doing that part of it.) Is this something I can put down, all though she stopped doing this now that she’s in the middle of HS?

-My grandmother is part of the Honor Guard. She always needed my help to set up for fundraisers/ make things for the veterans, work on projects surrounding the Honor Guard. Can I count this, although I mostly did what my grandmother directed me to do? I was more behind the scenes and only interacted with the vets when I saw them. ( I worked on setting tables, setting things up, marketing for the fundraisers, hunting down donors with my grandmother, things like that.)

-I’m an intern on a well known chat therapy website. When I finish the internship I get a certificate. Can I put this down?
-I also write articles and am a social media manager for a small non profit working for human rights. Again, is this worth writing down?

These are all things that I’m proud of and would love to share, but I wanted to know if they are interesting to put on my app? (I have other common EC’s these are just ones I’m confused about.)

  • I also want to know if I should take some SAT subject II tests? It looks like it could be a lot of fun, because most of those subject tests are in things I love and know a lot about. I was thinking maybe in November and December? I'm taking the ACT in September and maybe October, and plan to take the SAT in November. Would I be able to put the SAT II on my application?

(I am a senior in high school. I know I seem like a mess, but I promise I’m not(; Just want to make sure I have everything prepared for the next few months.)

My opinion:

don’t put the piano down,it’s more of a hobby
You can put down the Etsy thing as long as you did it in high-school.
Don’t put the Honor Guard help down.
Put the internship and the non-profit aspect down.

You would be able to put SAT IIs as long as you take them in November or December as long as you are applying Regular Decision.

I agree. However, some RD programs allow a Jan or Feb SAT2 sitting. Check each target college’s website for test deadlines.

Okay! Great! Thanks guys(: I’m applying to mostly CSU’s, if that helps. I’m thinking about applying to Howard or Spelman but it is a ways from home. I’m definitely doing RD, I don’t have the testing I need to do EA or ED.

Subject tests will be helpful if you apply to colleges such as Scripps, Whitman, Occidental, or seven sisters.
However, if you’re aiming at CSU’s (include ucm? Their finaxiakaid can be better than CSU’s) subject tests wouldn’t matter.
