A Few Questions About EFC

Hey, I just filled out my FAFSA and my EFC is "43". I'm not sure what this means in terms of how much I have to pay, but last year when I filled out the FAFSA, my EFC was "0". The only thing that has changed is that I made slightly more money and I have 100.00 in my checking account opposed to 0.00. Also, I am living in my own apartment instead of living at home. My questions are, "What do these EFC numbers mean?" and "Is an EFC of 43 much different from an EFC of 0?".

EFC = the amount your family is expected to contribute to your education under the federal formula. The school can do whatever they want with it, but you are likely to receive a Pell grant and other aid. 43 is not much different than 0 in terms of financial aid offered.

EFC means "Expected Family Contribution"
and EFC of 43 and 0 does not differed that much. (43 more dollars duh :-)

Wow... I didn't know that '43' meant 43 dollars, that's nuts. I thought it was some kind of code or symbol. Well when I did my FAFSA last year, I didn't go to school, all I did was fill it out. Thanks for the help everyone. :)
