I just got an email telling me my EFC has been changed based on some information recieved. I log into my FAFSA account to see it says 0000 under EFC. What exactly could this mean? ( Before the change it had said 1300 something). Thx.

It means your expected family contribution would be $0. (Either that, or they made an error.) That is good if you are applying to colleges that guarantee to meet need. It was already quite low, but whatever information was received must have shown your family could not afford even that amount.

the same thing happened to me and i was so confused. in past years, my EFC was 0. this year i filled out the FAFSA and it told me my EFC was about $4000- which caused me to freak out for the past 4 months. last week, though, i got the email you're talking about, logged in, and saw that it had been reprocessed and EFC was 0 again. now im just waiting to see if my school gives me my pell grant. before they were generous enough to offer my mom, who has like $400 in the bank, a $9,000 parent loan!!!!! (sarcasm...)

Thanks for the replies and Info. Now i just need to sit and wait for my school to tell me what they are actually going to cover.

Same, here, actually. It didn't help me because most of the government aid has already been disbursed at my school.
