Hi, i’m not from the USA and am not very familiar on SATS and i would like to find a few things;

Is there a minimum age for taking your SATS?

Do you do a coarse on the subjects and then exams?

What are the coarses you take and are there options?

How far ahead do yuo need to apply to college?

If there is website you know of that could answer these i would really apreciate it.

Thanks Very Much

I don't believe so. I've heard of sixth graders taking it.

The SAT is not a test like you would take in school. Sure, you can study for it by learning words and reviewing basic math skills, but it is not like a history test where you have to know specific things. The folks at CollegeBoard call it a developed reasoning test, meaning that you can intuit and reason out many of the problems, but the skills it tests are things that can be honed and perfected by being exposed to challenging academics and reading habitually.

There are some courses that you can pay for to prep for the SAT, such as those offered by Kaplan or Princeton Review, but I believe they are generally not worth the exorbitant prices they charge.

You should apply to colleges by their application dates but, as we all know but don't practice, the earlier the better! I would say that if you are done with your applications by the end of November, you are in really good shape.

great! thanks for the help

Miss Liberty:

the best way to prepare for the SAT is to practice old test-type problems. Suggest purchasing from the College Board (or Amazon) Ten Real SAT's and the Guide to the New SAT (if you are gonna be matriculating in 2006). CollegeBoard also has an online program.

Also, search the cc for Xiggi, because he has posted numerous times on SAT prep tips. Good luck and welcome to cc.
