I'm going to be a senior next year and plan on applying to Cornell ED.
However, I've encountered a few roadblocks along the way.

My first problem is choosing the courses for my senior year. I plan on majoring in history (I'm a history buff) and plan on showing adcoms that I truly enjoy the subject. I'm going to apply to Arts and Sciences, which requires applicants to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the liberal arts.

This is where the problem comes in. My school has AP English and AP European History during the same block next year and naturally, I chose Euro History. I'm now stuck in the lowest English class possible for Seniors. Will this hurt in admission decisions?

I also am taking AP Calculus and AP Physics, but mainly just to demonstrate that I took a rigorous courseload. During these blocks, a Public Issues class (politics, issues today) is being offered. I am interested in taking this class, and I feel like it would bode well with my intended major. However, I chose to AP Calc because it was an "AP" and to offset the fact that I didn't take Honors math my previous highschool years. AP Physics is just a random class as well. Should I replace the AP's? I just feel like taking only 1 AP class will show adcoms that I didnt take a rigorous courseload.

Another problem I have is the fact that I dropped a withdrew from a class my Sophomore year after a semester. It was an IT class, where we learned about computers and networking and that kind of stuff. At the time, I was interested in pursuing something in that field. I hated the class and how the teachers did things, and lost complete interest in the subject. I had an A for the class before I dropped it. I will try and show that 1. my interests changed and 2. I didnt drop it because it was a hard class. How much will this hurt me?
