A first: SAT test date called off for an ENTIRE country
The May 4th SAT test has been called off for S Korea when it was discovered that copies of the actual test were being sold and distributed in advance of the test date. This is the first time ever that the test has been called off for an ENTIRE country. Now Korean kids are scrambling to book trips to Japan or Hong Kong to take the test next month.

It seems South Korea is always committing scandalous academic acts like this one. No surprise to me, just a shame for an asian american to hear of this.

The tests have to be sent early enough to ensure that they are distributed to the proper sites. Someone obviously got hold of it after they were prepared to send, and distributed copies - whether that means someone intercepted the test in S Korea, or if they had help here is yet to be discovered. It does beg the question of whether all international sites use the same tests, or if each country has a specific test.

Perhaps rather than using previous US tests for internationals, they should do it the other way around - give the test internationally first, then use it here. Or maybe they need to move to the next step and either have a new test form (even if using some old questions) for each test date, though it makes scaling the scores more difficult, or maybe move to computerized adaptive tests.
