<p>Accidentally, a search result gave me class profiles of Class of 2013, 2014, 2015. After I read the first page each document, I found that the description for three classes are ALL THE SAME except for the class size. It says:
The Class of 2013/2014/2015 is one of the brightest and most diverse classes ever to attend Williams College. We base this statement upon not only the very high grades, average class rank and standardized test scores of the 549/549/548 new students admitted this year, but also the wide-ranging life histories, educational backgrounds and rare talents they have brought to our community. The admission data included in this profile is meant to give you a broad overview of the highly qualified candidates admitted to Williams. Please keep in mind, though, that objective data is only one of the measures used in our selection process. Other factors, such as secondary school curriculum and performance, teacher recommendations, co-curricular activities and personal statements are also central to our decision making.

I don't mean to pull out some serious, big implications but I really think they should change a little bit according to their feelings when they read applications instead of seeming to be "perfunctory."</p>
<p>As one who knows several Williams admissions officers and occasionally gets a sense of how much time, effort and commitment goes into each round of application readings, I’d say you’re making a bit of a mountain out of a molehill here. </p>
<p>Should they change the wording on future class profiles? Probably. But remember that these profiles exist mostly so people can get a numerical sense of the school to which they’re applying and do a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation about their chances. The intro simply serves as a reminder about the holistic nature of the admissions process.</p>
<p>Also, I’m pretty sure that the admissions officers themselves do not actually create these promotional materials. Don’t quote me on that, though.</p>
<p>Who cares? Each year the new class is “the best and brightest” in terms of stats…it’s only getting more competitive anyway. I’ve also seen admissions mention in other articles the more specific details and quirks of the group of matriculating students.</p>

I’d like to second your statement! The admissions officers at Williams college absolutely put a lot of time and effort into reading those applications and they really care about the applicants. When I went to visit for previews the some of the admissions officers even knew my name (and the names of other prospective applicants).</p>
