On my resume, should I mention that I am the leader of a online game guild that consists of more than 100 members ?? I organize events and stuffs and lead the group.
Would it look bad on the resume because it is a game ??

what type of game?

It's all in the wording.

The adcom could either laugh at your or be very impressed.

yeah its all about wording dont mention it unless its huge like you made a website and you charge people money or something

Hey, is it WoW?

DO IT...what if your ad com officer turns plays that game and turns out to be a part of your team....you never know

Unless you have lots of other much more significant activities that need the space, I say go for it. It's certainly out of the ordinary and I don't really see how it could hurt as long as you have other more conventional things to round it out.

what game is it? If it's CS, I'd say go for it, but if its like Tribes, I say scrap it.

thethoughtprocess:

what is your reasoning behind your comment? They seem similiar to me. The only difference I see is that one game is more popular than the other.

I already have a lot of EC, including leaderships in clubs, orchestras, quartets and jobs.
Why would it hurt if I am leader of a group of 100 people.
Just because it is a game ??
by the way the game is World Of Warcraft.

Can you guys back up your ideas ??

(sorry if I sound rude)

it depends what guild/server/horde or alliance? thats the real question.

i kind of did the same thing and put Server Administrator and Webmaster for Amateur Gaming League for some of the internships i applied to and scholarships that were focused on science and technology. i'm sure if you word your explanation right it will look good.

that's a good idea... i never thought of using my gaming clan experience for resumes/apps... i think i will now lol

oh, so a battlenet clan?

I guess you could mention that you are a site administrator if you run the server site

yougone: its because i like CS more than tribes :)
(i'm bad at both though)

it is depends on what kind of events u set...
for instance, i put down my leadership for cs clan (or guild)...
we have won many lan tournaments and even went to CPL, WCG, and ESWC qualifiers. we have experience of playing at world level of gaming.. and i explicitly explained how this is a business, not just a game, because my clan, under my leadership, had so many sponsorship from hardwares (graphic card, shuttle, mice, keyboards, pads, etc) to money (for traveling expenses). i also mentioned about the website i created for the clan (too bad its down.. because the clan died and sponsorship was dropped). -_-

it's how you put everything into words. just like kentuckyfriedbeef said.
i also recommend you to list something what you have gained from leading a guild...for me.. i put down like...
it felt like running a company, because i handled every aspect of the guild... sponsorship / gaming environment / plan for travelings / money / etc.

i hope this would help you.
