a good major to pair with ..?

Russian, If i wanted to work for the FBI as an intelligence analyst. Because we know so many people who work for various government fields we asked them many said psychology is good because it deals with intelligence/the mind etc...

Will Psych/Russian Double major be alright?

I also say this because i LOVE everything to do with psychology

I would say it is a good double major. You should also try to do pre-law requirements.

maybe look into government or international relations.

there are no pre-law requirements, save for the LSAT, from what i’m aware of.

It really doesnt matter what you major in, but try to accrue any and all special skills that you can.

Having a foriegn langauage is looked upon very favorably so that is a big plus, and you are on the right track. Law enforcement agencies also love people with backgrounds in accounting/finance so thay can spot money laundering situations etc, and examine books.

It doesnt really matter is you major in Political Science or English or International relations-- just get a good solid well rounded education. Most schools dont even have any sort of “pre-law” track and you will learn everything you need to know about law in FBI training.

Also keep yourself fit and do not do any drugs or break the law in anyway (i.e underage drinking, DUI). If you smoke weed more that 5x or do any other harder drugs you will be automatically excluded from joining. You must take and pass a lie detector from the best in the world, so dont think you can beat it.

Most of what i’ve read on the government site is completely different then being an FBI agent. Yeah i know you can’t do drugs etc… but it doesn’t say you need to be fit. You must pass a medical exam is all.

" Topical expertise or work experience in the following
Analytical studies
Computer science
Counterterrorism
Engineering (including aerospace, biomedical, chemical, electrical, nuclear)
Financial (Accounting/Finance/Economics/Banking)
History
Homeland/National Security
Intelligence/Psychology
International studies
Law Enforcement
Physical sciences (including chemistry, biology, microbiology)
Weapons of mass destruction"

are what the website says they look for in future intelligence analysts (it’s different then special agents)

and of course languages.

must i go to law school or is it suitable to be farmiliar (sp?) with law/ethics and have a masters or such in psychology

You didnt say analyst.

Why do you think you need to go to law school?

Analysts write reports on their given area of expertise. That information is used to then make critical decisions. You dont need any knowledge of the law for most analyst positions.

In the first post it says FBI intelligence analyst
thats what i was saying, i didn’t think i would need to go to law school but everyone else said it so i mean like

“Must i really go to law school?”

No, Law school has nothing to do what you want to do.

Their are several specialties served by analysts, and I suggest you go on the FBI job board to see the most needed.

Sure this can change in a few years, but now that really want people with business education to sniff our financial related crimes. I would look into that

I didn’t think law school did.

I go to the FBI website quite a bit.

Most of the people on here are 17 years old-- take their advice with a grain of salt.

I am no expert on the FBI, but I did look at a career with them pretty closely at one time so I have a some information I feel comfortable sharing.

If you love Psych, I would say that is the right double major. If you loved something different, you should pick that.
