A good minor for Physics Major?

I’m majoring in Physics, but currently trying to decide on a minor. I’m currently drawn between Comp Engineering Tech, Comp Sci, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemistry. I was wondering what others thought about which minor is a good compliment to Physics major.

Career wise, I was hoping to do something related to Particle Physics. Quantum computing, CERN, things in that area, but I’m not sure which minor will help me the most. Thank you!

How about something totally UNRELATED that you have a passion for. A foreign language could expand employment opportunities, plus improve your vacation.

you could learn a foreign language on your own… pick something that is a little far but still complements

Yep unrelated… Business is also an option

My physics major often appreciates the CS classes she took while she was a CS major for s few semesters. Her physics research advisor appreciates her computer skills, too.

Agree with @intparent. If your curriculum doesn’t already involve much computing/algorithms/programming, CS would be a great complement. My area is mechanical engineering, not physics, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I think all academic study in the areas of engineering and physics (and, really, science in general) benefits from a solid understanding of computer science and programming. Note that CS and programming are two different things, but CS courses often involve programming, and a good understanding of CS can make you a better programmer. I imagine this is particularly true of particle physics.
