A hard broken Rejectee with no chance of a future

<p>^^ let me guess you just joined? :) lol</p>

<p>Have you ever taken ACT? If not, try it. Many kids do better on that test than SAT. This is because they measure a bit different test-taking skills. In fact, there is one coming up this Saturday. It's too late to register, but you can try it as a standby. There is good chance that you will be allowed to take it.</p>

<p>if i take the act now, i will do poorly, i have no practice in it</p>

<p>BUT you know what?
I shall overcome, I shall over come
I shall overcome some day
Oh deep in my heart, I do believe
I shall overcome some day </p>

<p>You never know. My daughter is going to college this year, and she took ACT once. She did do better than her SAT, but not by much. With zero practice. She said some of her friends did much better. Again with little or no practice. Others do worse. It all depends on the individual. She said if she had practiced a little, she could've done much better on the science section. That how flawed these tests are.</p>

<p>Best Miler, it really is heartbreaking when you feel like you have failed your family/parents, especially when you really did try your very best. Really keep working at it and dont give up and hopefully one day they will realise and change thier perspective. This is your life and as much as it is wonderful to keep our parents happy ultimately you have done your very best and you shall keep doing your very best and they shall just have to deal with that :) </p>

<p>I have not read the whole thread so i am not sure if you have recoverd a little or not, but if you truely feel like you may be on the brink of harming yourself PLEASE go see someone about it, a friend or preferably a councellor who is trained to support people in these situations. Hopefully that depth of dispair was a passing feeling. This may take some time but you can get through these hurtful emotions :)</p>

<p>^^ ty very much...i have been feeling well in the past two days
well uc appeal decisons are coming up so right now im praying to god and saying:
I shall overcome, I shall overcome
I shall overcome someday
Oh deep in my heart, I do believe
I shall overcome someday
lol :)</p>

<p>^ Have faith, have faith. Right after getting the 5pm Ivy rejections (even damn Cornell, who everyone predicted I'd get in) on Friday, I prayed to God before I opened the last decision from Duke. "Please don't reject me....".</p>

<p>And got waitlisted, lol.</p>

<p>im trying to have faith.................
We'll walk hand in hand
We'll walk hand in hand
We'll walk hand in hand some day
Oh Deep in my heart, I do believe
We'll walk hand in hand some day
:)</p>

<p>have you heard anything today?</p>

<p>^^ well SUNY Buffalo, just told me that they are missing my midterm grade, which sucks, because the people in the guidance office told me that SUNY schools dont require midyear reports, so i never sent them
and also i found out today that from my graduating class, no one got into harvard, yale, princetion, and upenn....
very few got into brown and like 2 or 3 got into cornell and thats about it
and this is like a first ever for our school....this never happened, that no one got in HYP.</p>

<p>WOW! Your school is insane. I've never wanted going to a school like yours!</p>

<p>By the way, have you heard from URochester? Will you be my future classmate? =)</p>

sure you do...if we went together, we could have pushed ourself to do better...push each other all the way
and im pretty sure Rochester rejected...because i called them on march 15 and they said, we are sending it out in the end of the month, and i called today and they said, mine just got mailed out in the second batch
so im guessing the second batch is the denied batch... :(
oh well :)</p>

<p>Don't feel bad man. In my school we went:</p>

<p>0 for 6 with Harvard
0 for 7 with Yale
0 for 4 with Princeton
0 for 3 with Columbia
0 for 2 with Dartmouth
4 for 20 with Penn (3 got in ED; 1 got in RD)
1 for 8 with Brown (same kid)
1 for 10 with Cornell</p>

<p>hey, have faith!!!!!!!! wait for your news. I bet you will get it tomorrow.
Best of luck to you!!!!!!!!!! :)</p>

<p>best of luck to you..........

That book... was disturbing to say the least. It made me physically sick and depressed trying to rationalize what Ayn Rand was saying... and I got sucked in for a while, and tried to adapt to everyday life only to realize in a shocking way that I thought it was ********. It is theoretical, but truly applicable? She believes that altruism is equivalent to murder because you murder man's dignity and individualism... but does the man on the street begging for water give a damn about his individualism when he is dying? By giving him the water, i'm altruistic, i'm the criminal, I am the death of 'man an end unto himself'? I couldn't rationalize not giving a thirsty man water in order for a greater good because I never found the greater good. The theory and its ideas sound sophisticated because Rand makes it appear that her version of selfishness is in fact the ideal state of man, and it allows the ideal man to be completely independent. What crap. Roark used the "lesser" men around him to get where he wanted, but never gave a damn about their opinion. He wasn't independent, he was manipulative. I hated his character, and I hate the idiotic notion that to not understand objectivism is to somehow be less intelligent than those who adopt it wholeheartedly. Ugh... I can't think about this. It makes me feel angry all over again.

<p>Look... I'm gonna reply. LATER. I'd love to do so now, heatedly, but I don't have time. Keep looking at this thread.</p>

You go anywhere in the US and say you went to Penn State, people will recognize it.

</p>

<p>Ain't that the truth! EVERYONE knows PennState! I mean I'm at UPenn and when I say it everyone thinks I mean Penn State...as was said earlier, some people in PA ask what campus...</p>

<p>Them: "I didn't know PennState had a Philadelphia campus!"
Me: "It doesn't."
THem: "then what is it?"
Me: "ARRGHGHGHGHHGHG"</p>

<p>I've just read through all 24 pages of this out of concern for bestmiler and hope for his wellbeing. I wish you the best, bestmiler.</p>
