i just visited hopkins, and i REALLY liked it, but I was wondering if it is any easier to get in if ur interested in humanities. (my math score was a little lower than the hopkins average, my verbal score a little higher)

My son was accepted and if he attends will be a creative writing (writing seminars) major. I got the feeling with all these pre-meds and engineers applying they were very happy to take him. They need a diversity of interests.

It is not "easier" to get in as a humanities major - rather your application will be reviewed differently. There are five types of applicants to Johns Hopkins based on academic areas of interests:

(1) Undecided
(2) Engineers
(3) Humanists
(4) Natural Sciences
(5) Social Sciences

Each of these groups is reviewed differently as strengths and weaknesses of applicants for these various academic areas do differ. What I mean is that math scores are going to be important for an Engineer than they are for a Humanist -- and so on.

Diversity of academic interests is important for the Admissions Committee, but at no time do we sacrifice the quality of our students to fill lesser known programs.
