A in Honors or B in Regular

Hi,

I attend a large, reputable high school in MA.
Currently, I am struggling to decide between moving down to Regular for my English class. I am a Junior and I take all Honors courses plus two APs, (the most a Junior can take at my school), but Honors English is kind of screwing me over.
I have A ranges in all of my classes except in English I have a B, and this would mean that I would not even make the High Honor roll just because of English grade!
I really don’t want to drop down because it’s really hard to take all Honors at my school so I wanted to do it, and my school does weighted GPA, but a B in Honors is actually not higher than A in regular. (B+ in Honors is). Also, my school does top 10% roll and the grade is weighted.
My sophomore year grades were ok(Bs and As) so I really wanted to do better this year to get into the top 10%!
I want to be a history/ international relations major, so I feel like I should take Honors English as well. (Humanities…?)

Also, I am looking at prestigious colleges, the top 10% of my school usually goes to top 20 ish colleges.

Why are you getting a B? Is it a time thing or a difficulty thing? If its a time thing - drop another class and use your free to work on English. If its a difficulty thing (no matter how much you study, you can’t bring it up) drop to non-honors. A B is not going to do you any favors to your GPA nor your report card.

Then the counselors at your school should be able to answer your question better than a random person on the internet that is not familiar with your school, your transcript so far, etc
