can someone please explain to me A-levels in the UK are? And are there any courses that compare to APs in England?

A levels are like AP's but more advanced. Normally, you do it in a period of 2 yrs (AS in the first year and you 'complete' the A level in the second year)
I have heard from the admissions person that an AP is equivalent to 2/3 of an A level.
A typical student would do around 3-4 A levels.

alright thanks

so they look better than APs?

Depends... Taking 10 APs in different subjects junior and senior year probably looks better than doing "only" 4 A-Levels in the same subject area (e.g. sciences or humanities).

A-levels = Torture

@ Abhi08544, ahahhahahah wait till you get to college, A-Levels seem like a joke now

So, will you be deported if you drop out?

they don't 'look better' than AP's. They are just different. But an A level would earn you more credit than an AP. Another thing, the universities don't give credit for AS levels (they are considered 'too low'). ie you would have to complete an A level.
And as for A levels, you can only do them in gr 12 (or yr 12, 13).
