Hey College Conf.

Any one going to the Transfer day event this friday?

So we can meet up

Peace

i cant due to work. ill be going to the transfer only orientation on july 8 though.

I will be at the Transfer day orientation to man. Let me know a few days ahead of time and maybe we can meet up there.

o cool where in la do you live? also have you been to merced before? because i havent. im trying to get my friend to go with me (he goes to ucm) so i dont get lost and he can give me a tour of the campus but i doubt he wants to go for a 4 hour drive at 2am in the morning :)

I live east of Downtown LA.

I went to merced about 2 weeks ago and took the campus tour and thought it was cool, while knowing that they try and paint the best picture It was a very cool campus.

And directions are not difficult. 5 n, to the 99 n, exit right on G st and follow the signs.

hah im going to the transfer day july 8 orientation to. I’m gonna get some steel reserve on hold to make the orientation a lil more fun. hah i really hope merced isnt wack, i havent been there before but i only got a year so i can live with it. are you guys living in the dorms?

I am planning on going for the July 8th, but it won’t let me register because it states I need to submit my SIR. However I’ve done it but it says it’s differed…anyone have this issue?

Sorry Malik05, I didnt have that issue. Give them a call or shoot them an Email…they respond really quick. At least they have the times I have reached them.

Bring your drink man. Orientation will lag and that will for sure make the day fly by.

I will be living in the dorms, in the Valley Terrace Rooms. Its Aight, but like some people have said before, you can make your own fun, and I im ready to cook up a whole batch o’ fun

@ sergione:

Not to sound like a parent, but please be advised that these forums are monitored by UCM faculty and staff. From your posts here I can determine that you are:

A transfer student.

From Los Angeles.

Had orientation on May 22nd.

Living in Valley Terraces.

This really narrows down the field of suspects when you “cook up a whole batch o’ fun”. Just a word of caution. :)

Can a mod edit these two post, thanks

if not, the comment of “batch o fun”, was a reference to the fact that the poster can make an awesome batch of fettucini Alfredo and is willing to share with those around him. There is no reason to believe or mistake, that said poster intends or implied that their activities would be anything not adhering to the rules and regulations set by the UC Merced housing department.

The statement hereto above shows that poster meant nothing, about nothing.

:)

lol watch razore you find out all your schools mysteriously rescind you :)

Typically, yes, you won’t get in trouble. However, I’ve personally known people on this forum who have gotten in trouble with the school for posting unsatisfactory remarks about UC Merced. They’ve long since transferred, so I doubt they will receive any disciplinary action from a former school, but needless to say, they did receive a warning from the administration to cease any further negative comments on these types of forums. If you use the search function on the UC Merced section, you could probably find out who this user is.

At any other school, you typically wouldn’t get in trouble since the school would probably be so massive that the faculty have better things to worry about, but UCM is trying to build up its new reputation. They can’t have students posting negative things on this site or any other college forum as this would surely drive away potential students, so they have faculty monitor sites and even create accounts.

However, most users can spot these faculty accounts quite easily, proved by post #158 by neolin of this very same thread.

The internet is the worst place to be complacent. People used to think they could post anything on Facebook, and, well, what do you know, employers are checking Facebook accounts and often making hiring decisions based on what they see.

Employers and educational institutions alike are becoming more keen to who and what represents them on the internet. To ignore this fact is to jeopardize your future employment. Times are changing and it’s best to get with the program.

This is me “getting real” and offering up my experience so others don’t get in trouble. I hope you have the intelligence to see that before you resort to immature name calling on the internet.

I don’t understand what’s “stupid” about warning fellow students before they make a decision that may (emphasis on may) jeopardize their standing with the school’s administration. Perhaps I’ve missed something. Please enlighten me.

I wouldn’t be surprised, although that process would probably be costly and time consuming. I wouldn’t rule it out in the near future.

However, I totally agree. Some people really do need to learn the hard way before anything gets through their thick skulls.

Bumppppppp

Hey I posted this on another thread but it didn’t seem to get answered. I was wondering about the condition of the computer science program at merced? Because I am stuck between choosing merced or going to a junior college for a couple of years.

Thanks,
Lawrence

I find it funny that you claim you’re not pretentious, yet you just had to bring up the fact that when you took pre-cal during Summer at Cal, you did better than other students including Berkeley students. I mean really, you can’t even spell ‘GRIEVANCES’ or ‘ASSAULT’.

Just wanted to bump the thread with a great quote made by bayarea111203.

I have no idea who said that, but that’s definitely not true.

HaHaHaHa…yeah, I do not believe that UCM staff has the time to monitor and reprimand, disparaging comments on this site. I have worked 3 different jobs at UCM, in three different departments, and everyone seems overwhelmed with work! The campus is definitely understaffed. I sincerely, do not think they have the time.

This, is my second post on this site…I just created this account. I have to say that there are some awful misconceptions about UCM…most of which are flat out wrong!

I have to admit, there are good and bad aspects to UCM. It can be very aggravating, because sometimes it seems like the school can’t do the simplest of things. Having said that, the experience can be a good one if you are an open minded individual…it is definitely unique! Overall, I have come to grips with UCM failings, and would rate my experience as an excellent one. I would encourage anyone to pursue a degree at UCM!!!

FYI…I am a senior engineering student at UCM.

I’m a bit curious about what you mean by this; I’ve heard complete horror stories from UCs-that-shall-not-be-named, and many of my friends seem to think UCM has the best admin-student relations (then again, we only have 3k people).
