I'm in the N.J. area, and an alum just contacted me for an interview at her house. Also she said that the interview would be long (about an hour?) I've only had one interview so far, and that was pretty short, twenty minutes tops. I'm worried that I'll make quite a few fumbles in an hour - like, I won't know what to talk about, or there'll be some awkward silence, or possibly worse, the interviewer will be intensely interrogative. Should I bring a resume or something? How should I prepare? I would greatly appreciate any advice from people who have had interviews.

Hi-I am not sure if you have already had your interview...but if not...I encourage you to bring a resume, as typically the alum only has your name, and contact information. This will help you and the Alum find common ground, and allow you to expand on your experiences vis-a-vis Yale and their undergraduate student body. Good Luck!

IJ - I'll give you the same advice I gave my kids.... don't stress! I'd dress nice casual, bring your resume & have fun. Check out the Yale website & read on this forum what students have said about their experiences. Think about what Yale has to offer that makes you want to attend; the residential colleges, the amazing resources & the activities. Ask your interviewer what residential college he or she was in & what was their major and what did they like about Yale. While the interview may not determine if you're in or not, it is an opportunity for both of you to learn a little more about whether or not you & Yale are a match! And keep in mind that lots of people are pulling for you, even ones you don't know! Let us know how it goes!
