Apologies if this has been posted before

How does that ease the tension at all??? If you ask me, the article just added to the tension 10-fold.

Harvard REALLY is a school for the gods!!! That article did at least serve as a good reality check for me since it shows what the consequences of "shooting for the stars" can actually be.

Man, it sucks to realize that a vast majority of these CC Harvard hopefuls are going to have their lifelong dreams crushed come next week.:(

...come around 2 days and 17 hours.

yeah...that definitely increased the tension....by a lot.

If there's anything for those of you who are worrying about the decision to gleen from this, it's that if you don't get into Harvard you'll still probably have the credentials to get into a top flight school. I mean, Harvard's a great name, but you can get a well-paying occupation out of any quality school! :) So to anyone who gets rejected or deferred (including me), your hopes are still alive for a happy and fulfilling life.

Made me feel good...

It's depressing because it shows how small our chances are, but uplifting because when we get deferred, we can realize how many factors play into admissions over which we have no control.

It did make me feel good. To know that real people are there, feeling around the applications, trying to pass the apps through different levels of review. Looking for certain passions, to see if the person is driven. Made me feel like I had a shot.

"the selection committee will have to pare down some 17,500 generally qualified students to the 2,100or fewer than one in 10 of the total poolwho meet Harvard's incredibly restrictive criteria for entry"

I'm almost convinced now that Wednesday will bring bad news. The more I look at myself, the weaker candidate I seem.

well, i just imagine that if i was accepted, no one would be surprised, "REALLY??? They took YOU???" Sure there's a whole lot more to getting in than the numbers, but hey, at least the numbers give you a shot.
