Ha, my last summer vacation was before my senior year...I did IAW, now renamed the SLS. I skipped my French final to go, and took it in August when I got back to school. I also did the summer hire program at the Embassy in Kuwait and went to some great parties. Worked out in the Marine gym during my lunch breaks and swam in the evenings. My parents basically said I had to be at work on time and be prepared to work and come home for one meal a day. Other than that I was on my own...best summer ever. The next summer, I graduated, packed my bags, spent a few days in Tacoma, WA with friends and a few more in Monroe, NY with more friends. R-Day started the neverending whirl of activity I have yet to break free from. In four years as a cadet, my longest leave period was the 3 weeks I got before Buckner. All my other summers have been of the a week here, a week there variety.

This summer, I've got sixty days of leave. I'm going to my roomdawg's wedding here, and my best friend's wedding in New Hampshire. My own wedding is three days after hers. We're crusing through the New England states for a few days after, then going to Bonaire for scuba diving and our honeymoon. My cousin graduates from Basic Training at Ft. Jackson at the end of June, and I'm going to that, after I go to Michigan to help my fiance pack his stuff. After Jackson, I'm headed to Virginia to pack up my own stuff. At that point, I'm taking MY OWN vacation, and I'm solo hiking part of the Appalachian Trail. I PCS to Ft. Leonard Wood on or around July 26, 60 days after graduation. I start my month of snowbird time there, and my BOLCII class starts on 2 September at Ft. Benning. At that point, I'll be back in "school" so I guess that's the end of my summer. I just found out I won't be in Korea until late February which is a bummer.
