A Major Problem

I'm about to be a senior this fall and I'm trying to decide what I want to major in. My favorite subjects are english and history and I have been told that I write extremely well. In 9th and 10th grade I took journalism and wrote for my high school newspaper and really enjoyed it. The problem is though that my parents are against any major that is not science oriented. As a result of my interests, I have been thinking that I should probably go to law school in order to have more well paying opportunites open to me. My parents want me to go to pharmacy school and then become a lawyer so I can easily pay my way through law school. The truth is, math and science are my weakest subjects and they just don't interest me. My parents have even threatened to send me to a community college or to the local mediocre university close to where we live, but I know my grades are good enough to get into a very competitive college. Does anyone know what I should do?

Scholarships to a school of your choice? Tell your parents that you aren't good at science, and if you don't do well, you won't get a good job and won't have a good salary and won't be able to pay your way through law school? Maybe go to community college for a year and work so that you can transfer out and pay for it yourself?

wow that situation really sucks. What colleges are you thinking about applying to? Research all majors that have the best possibility in landing a job with just a bachelor's degree; I'm sure there are plenty that are more suited towards your interests than math or science, with better benefits. Work on convincing your parents otherwise. Keep us updated, interesting situation.
