A matter of taste

What is Middlebury's favorite flavor of student?

Rumor has it a lot of the LACs personalize the acceptance letters and say "CONGRATULATIONS! We liked (A) (B) & (C) about you! Welcome to College!"

I've seen kids (on CC) with 2300s, nice ECs and phenomenal GPAs getting rejected from Middlebury so if any of you could tell me what what it was about you (or your kid) that seemed to tickle Midd the right way, I'd really appreciate it.

I've got the general gist of things from... an extremely unhealthy amount of research... but the more perspective the better.

Anyone here get into/ go to/ applying to Middlebury who's a IB Diploma recipient/ candidate? Throw your thoughts at me!

I want to soak up every drop of Middlebury related knowledge. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING WILL HELP! THANK YOU!

Dear shewy, this Midd mom really is hoping you get your acceptance in however many days it is. We moms hate to see nice kids disappointed. Why my 2 boys got into Midd over so many other qualified people, I can’t say.

Anyway, they have IB diplomas, 4.0 averages, public school but took the hardest classes, one has fab SATs, the other a 31 ACT. They both excelled in their own extracurricular areas-one a gifted writer and political junkie with awards for his newspaper columns, the other a recruited athlete, and they had great recs.

I’d say that they were each excellent students with an area of excellence beyond academics, and their passion came thru on their applications, essays and recs.Plus very lucky.
I’d like to add that I firmly believe they would each have been happy at any other of the schools to which they applied.
So I hope it works out for you, but please don’t think it’s the end of the world if you don’t get that ED acceptance.
And my oldest son, the feb, came off the wait list in May of his senior year…
