I don't know what it is about the book I don't understand, but I can't grasp my mind around it. I had 2 quizzes on it and got a 72 on both and I have a C in the class now with not a single A in English. All my grades have to do with A Midsummer Night's Dream and the highest grade I've gotten so far was an 85 on homework. Can anyone suggest a way I can get my mind to understand it (and "No Fear Shakespeare" doesn't work). I"m really freaking out because we have a test on it on Tuesday and I need to study like crazy for it to just get a C. Please help!!!

Try watching the movie?

^ that's exactly what I was going to say!

But keep in mind that movies are not exactly like the books they are based on; and sometimes they leave out alot of important details.

Is this your first Shakespeare? I know I read Midsummer Night's Dream in 7th grade english and had a difficult time understanding it because it was the first thing I read of shakespeare. It just takes a little bit of time to get used to the language and style.

i've been in the play 3 different times, but i've never read the book, haha

I am a Shakespeare fanatic, but...

nfs.sparknotes.com

UNBELIEVABLE if you're not a Shakespeare buff.

thanks! yes this is my first shakespeare book and im a freshmen!!! :(....im the only one in my class that hasnt read it before

Read it in 7th... it really wasn't too bad. Try calling a friend and having her/him explain the plot to you...

And sigurros... whoo postrock!

I second spark notes! And the friend idea is good too...a smart friend :)

I was Oberon in my high school's production of the play... and I don't even get it.

It's actually a rather entertaining book...just think of it as a complicated love story -- the sort of thing you might see in the movies today, only with more obscure language. That might help.

Haha feng, yah they are a super relaxing icelandic band.

wow thanaks votebarackobama!!!!

hahah, anytime guys!

midsummer is probably one of my least favorite shakespeare plays...
the characters just annoy me.
I've been in it twice with different parts.

^same...well ive never been in it, but it is definitely my least favorite of shakespeares plays...

aww, I love Midsummer! I've been in it twice, most recently as Mustardseed...I still couldn't totally explain the specific ups and downs of the four lovers over the course of the play but the rest of it pretty much makes sense. (If you're still puzzled about details and stuff, feel free to PM me!)
I'd agree, watch the movie-- then you'll have a face to put with each name, and that's helpful.

yes....you should definitely watch the movie, and even though i hated it, i studied for the test a lot ...so i think i have a decent understanding of it..so if you need help you can pm me as well...

yeah... being in it twice with large roles I know quite a lot about it, so I'm happy to help.
