Shakespeare...

Ok, I'm a senior and I have now read four 1/2 of Shakespeares play (we only read half of Twelth Night) but I started a new school this year and they hadn't even read one Shakespeare play, is this normal? What is your guy's experience with his works?

I've Read:

Hamlet
Romeo and Juliet
MacBeth
Othello

So far I think that its a tie between Othello and Hamlet that I like the best.

I love Hamlet!

I liked that one for the whole I'm convinced that Hamlet is Bi-Polar because of all of his mood swings, but I like Othello because of Iago and how manipulative that he is

um... I've read all of shakespeare.

I've been in 12 of his plays.

and I've seen around 30 professional performances.

I've done two research papers and a college essay on shakespeare.

Yes, I'm obsessed!

uhm...wow...freak LOL...j/k but wow...

lol, I know. I am a freak.
I've spent every summer since I was 8 doing either workshops or camps.
I've taught shakespeare acting too.

lol, I don't mind being a freak though!

wow...thats crazy I wouldn't have the paitence to do that

at my school we do about 1 a year, except for American Lit. There is also a whole senior year course devoted to studying the remaining plays, etc

Midsummer Night's Dream
Romeo and Juliet
As You Like It
Hamlet
Macbeth
The Taming of the Shrew
The Tempest

In that order, starting in fourth grade.

Wow, your current high school doesn't require a single Shakespeare play? That is kind of weird.

Anyway, in school, we've read:

Romeo and Juliet (8th)
Much Ado About Nothing (9th)
Othello (10th)
Twelfth Night (11th)
Hamlet (12th - later this year)

And we've had to read Shakespeare outside of school, so I've also read Macbeth and The Tempest.

just finished king lear for IB english HL! it was my favourite shakespeare piece yet, but that's not saying much... i'm not a huge fan.

Hamlet (4th/12th)
Romeo and Juliet (4th/9th)
MacBeth (4th/11th)
Midnight Summer's Dream (4th)

Ya, in 4th grade GT we had a Shakespeare Unit.

^_^

^Midnight Summer's Dream? X)

We do one Shakespeare every year. :]

Romeo & Juliet (9th)
Othello (10th)
Henry IV Part I (11th)
Hamlet (12th)

We don't read Macbeth or Midsummer, but a lot of kids read them outside of school.

Lol.........

A Midsummer Night's Dream
Much Ado About Nothing
Antony and Cleopatra
Macbeth
Othello
King Lear

I think we've got Hamlet and The Taming of the Shrew lined up for this year.

Yeah, we've read Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, Taming of the Shrew, and King Lear so far in my high school...

so whats up with this school? Othello was the first one that they had read

Of his works I've only read Richard III and I liked it it a lot.

Romeo and Juliet - 8th grade, but we're supposed to reread it again this year (9th)

I have 12 of his plays, but I only got to read The Merchant of Venice this summer. Once school started, I kind of put Shakespeare aside. I don't have time to read books I like, let alone plays that I read for educational purposes. ;)

I have a Shakespeare quiz tomorrow -- I have to reproduce Hamlet's entire "To be or not be" soliloquy. I just finished memorizing all 33 lines of it... My head hurts.
